The 2006 Le Mans poster is part of the era in Le Mans posters which is generally described as "The Le Mans Poster in the era of computer graphics and sponsorship" and which lasts from 2001 until the current day.
The 2006 24 Heures du Mans poster was produced by the Archimede agency after a color illustration derived from photographs provided by Audi Sport Press.
The poster is inspired by both photography as well as graphic design.
It gives an impressive sense of speed with the car again as the star but this time seen from behind, an unusual angle.
The race was won by Frank Biela, Emanuele Pirro and Marco Werner in their # 8 Audi R10 TDI with a total of 380 laps to their name.

1955 Le Maine Libre 24 Hours of Le Mans Poster Fangio on Mercedes 300 SLR.
Issued by Le Maine Libre, a local Le Mans newspaper, in 2006 it shows the Fangio at the wheel of the # 19 Mercedes-Benz 3002 SLR (S/N 0007/55) while being chased by the # 6 Jaguar D-Type of Hawthorn / Bueb (Mike Hawthorn at the wheel; they would win this race) and the # 4 Ferrari 121 LM of Castellotti & Marzotto who are in the process of overtaking the # 34 Bristol 450C of Wilson & Mayers.
1955 was of course the year of the biggest catastrophy ever at Le Mans and following the accident of Pierre Levegh, all Mercedes cars were withdrawn from the race.
