The Porsche 936 spearheaded Porsches attacks on Le Mans from 1976 to 1981.. Jacky Ickx, the most successful driver in Le Mans history, has won Le Mans three times with the Porsche 936. 1976,1977 and in 1981. The 936 is the successor of the famous Porsche 917, which took the first overall victory in Le Mans for Porsche in 1970.
