Vintage 1971 Le Mans 24 Hours Poster - Numbered & Limited Edition.
June 12 & 13, 1971.
60 x 40 cm
23.5 x 15.5 inches
This is an ultra scarce version of the already much beloved 1971 24 Heures du Mans poster.
It is numbered, indicating that this is one of of the posters that was given to officials, helpers and other volunteers for that year's race and to the local commerce to advertise the event.
Of course we only have 1 available.
This poster is part of the so-called "Modern Photographic Approach" era in Le Mans posters which lasted from 1964 - 1971.
The poster features a color photo by Andre Delourmel from the city of Le Mans while the overall design was entrusted to Imprimerie Draeger in Paris and dates from 1970.
The view of the poster sums up the conditions under which the 1970 edition took place. The section chosen is somewhat unusual as it is the section of the circuit between Arnage and Maison Blanche which was used for the last time in 1970.
The race was won by Dr. Helmut Marko and Gijs van Lennep in their Porsche 917 K with a total of 397 laps to their name or 5.335 KM, a distance record that stood until 2010!
For the full results of this race, please see 24 Heures du Mans results 1971.
This poster will be shipped, rolled, in a sturdy tube.
