Vintage 1949 Le Mans 24 Hours Race Program.
Excellent but of course used condition.
Comes complete with the lap chart and an Air France ticket from London to Paris for the race!
A GREAT set from the first post WW2 running of the 24 Heures du Mans.
The colour illustration on the cover is from the hand of Andre Galland, who would also drew the 1950 version and a good number of cover illustrations for the pre-war programs. The postwar period was full of hope for all nations. The flags were present but this time they surrounded the globe in a fraternal spirit. The race was no longer supposed to be a source of rivalry but of solidarity.
New flags were present on the illustration. From left to right and top to bottom: The United Kingdom, Norway, Belgium, France, The United States, Switzerland, The Netherlands, Italy and The Czech Republic.
The race was won by Luigi Chinetti (and Lord Selsdon) in their Ferrari 166 MM with a total of 235 laps to their name.

This vintage & original 1949 photo shows the Delettrez Diesel before the start of the 1949 running of the 24 Heures du Mans.
The car in question is the very first Diesel-engined car that ever competed in the 24 Hours.
The car was run by the Jean & Jacques Delettrez who owned the Ets. Delettrez company.
It was a strange combination of various elements... a pre-war UNIC chassis, a GMC Diesel engine and a Delage V12 body...
In lap 123, roughly half way through the race, Jacques Delettrez ran out of fuel but managed to complete the lap on the starter motor! Unfortunately, the battery gave up the ghost and they were unable to complete the race.
The photo measures some 23 x 17.5 cm of 9 x 7 inches and is in excellent condition.
The back carries the stamp of the photographer.

Vintage 1949 Le Mans 24 Hours by Roger Labric and Geo Ham.
This book, issued in 1949 by the A.C.O. (organizing body of the 24 Heures du Mans), if often considered as THE prized possession for serious Le Mans collectors.
It was a limited edition of 1000 pcs back in 1949 of which only few survive to this day and of which most have found their way into collections where they will probably stay for ever.
We are very proud to be able to offer for sale this book which survives in decent condition but, as the photos clearly show, with a very shabby spine and weak, but intact, binding. So, no loose or missing pages!
Being a BIG book, some 25 x 32 cm or 10 x 13 inches and 471 pages (some 6 cm or 2.5 inches thick!) it is a very detailed account of the 24 Hours races as held in the pre WW2 era (1923 - 1939) including stats and reports on the drivers with countless illustrations and portraits by the fantastic artist, Geo Ham (Georges Hamel).
Very, VERY scarce and an absolute "must have" for the endearing Le Mans collector!
Only 1 available of course !
