Vintage 1958 photo of Peter Collins on Ferrari 250 Testa Rossa S/N 0704TR at Le Mans 1958.

This is a great atmospheric shot of Peter Collins in the POURING rain during the 1958 running of the 24 Heures du Mans.

Peter was teamed up with his best friend Mike Hawthorn for this race, driving the Ferrari 250 TR (S/N 0704TR) but unfortunately, the duo had to retire after 112 laps with clutch trouble.

The car was the 2nd 250 TR prototype and has been raced extensively throughout its life before ending up in the Ford museum in Dearborn. Its current whereabouts are unknown to us.

The photo measures some 26 x 16 cm or 10 x 6 inches.

It carries the photographer's stamp on the back.

Vintage 1958 photo of Ferrari 500 TR S/N 0600MDTR & Aston-Martin DBR1/300 # DBR1/2, 24 Heures du Mans

Vintage 1958 photo of Ferrari 500 TR S/N 0600MDTR & Aston-Martin DBR1/300 S/N 2, 24 Heures du Mans.

This is a vintage 1958 photo of the # 25 NART entered Ferrari 500TR of Pedro Rodriguez (driving here) & Jose Behra and the David Brown Racing Department entered Aston-Martin DBR1/300 of Maurice Trintignant (driving here) & Tony Brooks.

Unfortunately, neither car would make it to the finish line...

The Ferrari, S/N 0600MDTR, retired in lap 119 due to overheating. It survives to this day in the USA.

The Aston-Martin, S/N DBR1/2, also survives to this day and is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful Aston Martins ever. It went on to win the 24 Heures du Mans the next year in the hands of Roy Salvadori & Carroll Shelby.

As visible in the scan, the photo was taken in the POORING rain at the end of the start/finish straight and as a result of teh rain, the photo is not as sharp as it would have been in dry weather.

The photos is in mint condition, measures some 18 x 24 cm (7 x 9.5 inches) and carries the stamp of Yves Debraine on the back.

The race was won by Olivier Gendebien & Phil Hill in their # 14 Ferrari 250 TR58 with a total of 305 laps to their name.
