1971 24 Hours of Le Mans Posters and Memorabilia
Vintage 1971 24 Hours of Le Mans Race Program.
Stunningly mint condition for its age!
The cover follows the design of the 1971 race poster and features a color photo, by Andre Delourmel from the city of Le Mans, which sums up the conditions under which the 1970 edition took place. The section chosen is somewhat unusual as it is the section of the circuit between Arnage and Maison Blanche which was used for the last time in 1970 and shows the number 5 Ferrari 512 S of Jacky Ickx and Peter Schetty.
It measures some 21 x 27 cm and counts 112 pages which are filled to the brim with information on the cars, the race and of course great period advertising.
The booklets also served as a ticket in the grand prize draw and, consequently, they were individually numbered; this one being 011070 but it might be a little late to claim your prize now...
If we would have to describe this booklet in three words, they would be: Mint, Mint, Mint....True time capsule condition.
The race was won by Dr. Helmut Marko and Gijs van Lennep in their Porsche 917 K with a total of 397 laps to their name or 5.335 KM, a distance record that stood until 2010!

Vintage 1971 Turkish Movie Poster for Le Mans Buyuk Yaris.
Features the "Akun Film" logo and Turkish title "Buyuk Yaris".
Le Mans (released in some English speaking countries as both "Le Mans" and as "The 24 Hours of Le Mans"), the 1971 Lee H. Katzin France automobile car racing sports action thriller ("Steve McQueen takes you for a drive in the country. The country is France. The drive is at 200 MPH!"; set in the classic French countryside's historic 24-hour race) starring Steve McQueen, Siegfried Rauch, Elga Andersen, Ronald Leigh-Hunt, and features racing legends Derek Bell, Jacky Ickx, and Jo Siffert.
The movies is of course famous because of the epic battle between Porsche and Ferrari, Steve McQueen and the music score by Michel Legrand.
This Turkish poster measures approximately 27 x 39 inches.
Turkish movie culture was significantly different from what we know in the West in the early 1970's and lobby cards (and sometimes posters) circulated amongst movie theaters along with the movies themselves. In the West, theaters could keep the cards, in Turkey they had to go back to the distributor and were sent out again to the next theater.
A couple of years ago, we bought the complete stock of "Le Mans" posters from the former Turkish distributor "Akun Film" in Istanbul.
All posters are folded as they originally were... we have NEVER seen any non-folded vintage examples of this poster...

In the West, theaters could keep the cards, in Turkey they had to go back to the distributor and were sent out again to the next theater.
As a consequence, these cards have seen considerable use and usually have a good number of pinholes.

It is safe to assume that there are hardly any of these lobby cards in circulation apart from the ones sold by us.
We only have a couple available and as mentioned above, they have all seen hard use so please don't expect them to be in mint condition.
