Vintage 1949 Le Mans 24 Hours by Roger Labric and Geo Ham.

This book, issued in 1949 by the A.C.O. (organizing body of the 24 Heures du Mans), if often considered as THE prized possession for serious Le Mans collectors.

It was a limited edition of 1000 pcs back in 1949 of which only few survive to this day and of which most have found their way into collections where they will probably stay for ever.

We are very proud to be able to offer for sale this book which survives in decent condition but, as the photos clearly show, with a very shabby spine and weak, but intact, binding. So, no loose or missing pages!

Being a BIG book, some 25 x 32 cm or 10 x 13 inches and 471 pages (some 6 cm or 2.5 inches thick!) it is a very detailed account of the 24 Hours races as held in the pre WW2 era (1923 - 1939) including stats and reports on the drivers with countless illustrations and portraits by the fantastic artist, Geo Ham (Georges Hamel).

Very, VERY scarce and an absolute "must have" for the endearing Le Mans collector!

Only 1 available of course !

Newly arrived Vintage Original 1953 24 Heures du Mans Program Booklet

Vintage 1953 Le Mans 24 Hours Race Program.

In excellent condition but obviously used and a small corner or the top of the rear cover missing (see photographs). Blank lap sheet with some scribbling in the margins.

Fantastic artwork by world renowned motorsport artist Geo Ham on both the front and rear cover.

Unlike the previous years, the artist has decided to show a slightly more symbolic face of the event.

The scene looks like the exit of the Mulsanne hairpin while the water tower, which was built by the Germans during World War 2, can be seen in the background on the left.

The race was won by Tony Rolt and Duncan Hamilton in their Jaguar C-Type with a total of 304 laps to their name.

Unfortunately, Tom Cole Jr. met his untimely end when he crashed the Ferrari 340 MM Vignale Spyder (S/N 0284MM), which het shared with 1949 Le Mans winner Luigi Chinetti, in lap 175.

The design of the 1955 poster came from world-renowned motorsport artist Geo Ham who opted for the symbolic approach. The place is the Mulsanne hump at the end of the Les Hunaudieres straight. Power, the night and the time are the key motifs in the illustration.

Newly arrived Vintage Original 1956 24 Hours of Le Mans Program Autographed by Peter Collins and Ken Wharton

Vintage Original 1956 24 Hours of Le Mans Program Autographed by Peter Collins and Ken Wharton.

Here we have a VERY special 1956 Le Mans program...

Apart from being quite a rarity in its own right, this one was signed on the cover by racing greats Peter Collins and Ken Wharton!

Peter Collins (1931 - 1958) was teamed up with Sterling Moss and the duo drove their Ecurie Ecosse entered Aston-Martin DB3 S to a second place overall, a mere 1 lap behind the winning Jaguar D-Type of Ron Flockhart and Ninian Sanderson.
Peter signed the cover in pencil.

Ken Wharton (1916 - 1957) was teamed up with Jack Fairman in a works Jaguar D-Type but unfortunately, he never got to drive it in the race as Jack crashed the car already in lap 3...
Ken signed the cover in blue ballpoint.

Neither of these two men would survive this race for more than 2,5 years and both would get killed in a Ferrari...

The booklet measures some 13 x 23.5 cm and contains 188 pages filled to the brim with information of the cars, the drivers, previous editions of the race, the track and of course great contemporary advertising.

It does have a fair amount of wear and tear, as can be seen in the photos, and yes, it would have been a lot more expensive if it was in mint condition...

The race was won by Ron Flockhart and Ninian Sanderson in their Jaguar D-Type with a total of 300 laps to their name.

For the full results of this race, please see 24 Heures du Mans results 1956.

Only 1 available and we will of course guantee the authenticity of these autographs for life.

Vintage 1957 24 Hours of Le Mans Program Package

Newly arrived Vintage 1957 24 Hours of Le Mans Program Package

Vintage 1957 Le Mans 24 Hours Race Program Package.

This is an almost time warp set dating from 1957.

It not only contains the 1957 24 Heures du Mans programme but also the following items:

  • Index of Performance conversion chart (sponsored by Marchal Headlights) with some fraying on one end
  • Ozo fuels ans lubricants advertising card with a map of the local Le Mans Ozo Gasstations
  • Invitation to come to one of the 13 "Service Stations" to come and test the qualities of the "Thomson Microtomic" Razors...
  • A pink flyer issued by the A.C.O. (organizors of the Le Mans 24 Hours but in essence a car club like the A.A.) with an analysis of fuel prices from February 17, 1956 - May 1, 1957

This set is exactly as you would have bought it trackside in 1957 and a very rare find thanks to the "extra items" that are still with it.

It is in more than excellent condition for its age with some very minor shelfwear to the cover of the program booklet and of course a blank lap table (see photo).

Admittedly... the cover of that booklet is not exactly the most spectacular ever... graphics-wise...

The programme itself measures some 21 x 27 cm and counts 96 pages filled to the brim with information of the race, the cars, the drivers and of course load of contemporary advertising with a fantastic color advertisement for "Huiles Renault" with artwork by the great Geo Ham on the rear cover (se photo).

The booklets also served as a ticket in the grand prize draw in which you could win a Renault Dauphine car and, consequently, they were individually numbered with this particular one being 008269 but it might be a little late to claim your prize now...

The race was won by Ron Flockhart and Ivor Bueb in their Jaguar D-Type (S/N XKD606) with a total of 327 laps to their name.
