Vintage Photo of 1927 Bentley crash at Le Mans.
This is a vintage photograph of the # 1 & # 2 Bentleys after the famous crash at Maison Blanche (or White House in English) which also involved the # 3 Bentley of Dudley Benjafield and Sammy Davis.
In lap 34, all three factory entered Bentleys crashed together at White House, putting the # 1 (Old Mother Gun, to the right in this photograph) of Frank Clement and Leslie Callingham & # 2, the 3 Liter Sport (Old No. 7, to the left in this photograph) of Andre d'Erlanger and George Duller, out of the race.
The third car, the # 3 of Benjafield & Davis could be repaired by its drivers and went on to win the race with an amazing 21 laps (!) lead over the second placed Salmson GS of Andre de Victor & J. Hasley.

This book, issued in 1949 by the A.C.O. (organizing body of the 24 Heures du Mans), if often considered as THE prized possession for serious Le Mans collectors.
It was a limited edition of 1000 pcs back in 1949 of which only a few survive to this day and of which most have found their way into collections where they will probably stay for ever.
We are very proud to be able to offer for sale this particular copy, number # 949 out of the 1.000 produced, and which survives in decent condition (not mint).
Being a BIG book, some 25 x 32 cm or 10 x 13 inches and 471 pages (some 6 cm or 2.5 inches thick!) it is a very detailed account of the 24 Hours races as held in the pre WW2 era (1923 - 1939) including stats and reports on the drivers with countless illustrations and portraits by the fantastic artist, Geo Ham (Georges Hamel).
Very, VERY scarce and an absolute "must have" for the endearing Le Mans collector!
Only 1 pc available of course !
Issued by Le Maine Libre, a local Le Mans newspaper, it shows pictures of all 75 previous winners of the Le Mans 24 Hour race.
