Authentic 1964 Aston Martin at Le Mans photograph.
This is a vintage 1964 photo of the # 18 Aston Martin DP214 (S/N of Michael Salmon & Peter Sutcliff passing through the smoke of the blown engine of the # 8 Sumbeam Tiger Thunderbolt of Claude Dubois & Keith Ballisat.
Since the Sunbeam blew its engine on lap 37 and given the fact that there are people runnig towards the car, indicating that the blow-up had only just happened, this photo must have been taken around 18.45H on Saturday June 20, 1964.
Unfortunately, the Aston Martin would be disqualified, while in 8th place, due to an illegal oil replenishment.
The car in question, S/N 0194/R, survives to this day.
The photo measures some 21 x 16 cm of 8 x 6.5 inches and is in good condition.
The back carries the stamp of the photographer.
The race was won by Jean Guichet & Nino Vaccarella in their # 20 Ferrari 275P (S/N 0816) with a total of 4695 KM to their name.
