Le Mans 24 Hours Posters & Memorabilia Shop

This is a GREAT shot of, what looks to be, Olivier Gendebien, recovering from a rare "off" at Mulsanne corner during the 1960 running of the 24 hours of Le Mans.

It appears the be taken in the early evening of Saturday June 26, 1960 as the cars have their lights on already and the rain is pouring.

The duo (Olivier Gendebien & Paul Frere) would go on to win the race with a total of 314 laps to their name.

The car in question, S/N 0774TR, now resides in Hong Kong.

This is a vintage photo, i.e. it was printed shortly after the image was captured on film.

The photo measures some 6.3 x 4.3 inches or 16 x 11 cm, is in mint condition bar some glue & album residue on the back.

The poster shows a fantastic image, by Beligond, of the # 12 Ferrari 250 TRI/60 powering its way out of the Esses and heading towards Tertre Rouge during the previous edition in 1960.

This vintage 1928 advertisement is for Wakefield Castrol oil which was used to lubricate the winning Bentley of Captain Woolf Barnato and Bernard Rubin.

The duo won the race with a total of 2.669 km's to their name.

This ad was taken from a contemporary publication and is now 82 years old!

This is a vintage 1966 key chain, sold track-side during the 1966 24 Heures du Mans.

It consists of a diecast "frame" and a replica of the 1966 poster for the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

As the "poster" is printed on paper and encased in clear plastic, these have the tendency to fade with age and so has this one.

This is a vintage 1953 brochure, issued by Jaguar to celebrate the vistory of Tony Rolt & Duncan Hamilton in thier Jaguar C-Type at the 24 Heures du Mans.

A great period piece issued by a major manufacturer!

The brochure measures some 18 x 13 cm (or 7 x 5 inches) and folds open to 4 times that format.

Other than a pencilled "1953" on the back, it is in mint condition!

This is a vintage photograph of the # 1 & # 2 Bentleys after the famous crash at Maison Blanche (or White House in English) which also involved the # 3 Bentley of Dudley Benjafield and Sammy Davis.

In lap 34, all three factory entered Bentleys crashed together at White House, putting the # 1 (Old Mother Gun, to the right in this photograph) of Frank Clement and Leslie Callingham & # 2, the 3 Liter Sport (Old No. 7, to the left in this photograph) of Andre d'Erlanger and George Duller, out of the race.

The third car, the # 3 of Benjafield & Davis could be repaired by its drivers and went on to win the race with an amazing 21 laps (!) lead over the second placed Salmson GS of Andre de Victor & J. Hasley.

A GREAT item from the time when the mighty Group C 962's ruled the seas of endurance racing.

This is an original cylinderhead & cylinder of a 962.

In the 962, the head & cylinder were a one-piece assembly and so is this one.

This particular one comes from a blown engine and has "severe" damage to the combustion chamber. Two valves are locked solid in their guides and of a 3rd valve only the stem is left...

A great and rarely available conversation piece that everybody will want to study and take a closer look at. Looking down the cylinder bore gives a fascinating view of the 4-valve arrangement.

Since the Sunbeam blew its engine on lap 37 and given the fact that there are people runnig towards the car, indicating that the blow-up had only just happened, this photo must have been taken around 18.45H on Saturday June 20, 1964.

Unfortunately, the Aston Martin would be disqualified, while in 8th place, due to an illegal oil replenishment.

The car in question, S/N 0194/R, survives to this day.

This is a vintage photo of the Ferrari 412P of Jean Guichet & Herbert Mueller en route to a DNF in the 1967 running of the 24 Heures du Mans.

The car, S/N 0848, was modified from 330 P3/4 to 412 P specs earlier in 1967.

It survives to this day in Switzerland.

The photo is in mint condition, measures approximately 20.5 x 16 cm or 8 x 6 inches and carries the stamp of the great Godfrey Goddard on the back.

This vintage & original 1949 photo shows the Delettrez Diesel before the start of the 1949 running of the 24 Heures du Mans.

The car in question is the very first Diesel-engined car that ever competed in the 24 Hours.

The car was run by the Jean & Jacques Delettrez who owned the Ets. Delettrez company.

It was a strange combination of various elements... a pre-war UNIC chassis, a GMC Diesel engine and a Delage V12 body...

In lap 123, roughly half way through the race, Jacques Delettrez ran out of fuel but managed to complete the lap on the starter engine! Unfortunately, the battery gave up the ghost and they were unable to complete the race.

The photo measures some 23 x 17.5 cm of 9 x 7 inches and is in excellent condition.

The back carries the stamp of the photographer.
